Gill qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1989 and has a long-standing specialism in Augmentative and Alternative Communication. For the last 10 years her research has focused on Rett syndrome and she led the project team behind the development of the Rett Syndrome Communication Guidelines which were published in 2020.
In this talk Gill will highlight some of the key recommendations from the Guidelines for supporting the communication skills of children and adults with Rett syndrome, and explore recent research publications that strengthen these recommendations. She will also identify gaps in the evidence base and suggest future areas for communication research.
